Finch was born in La Mirada Calif. and began playing softball as a child. Doug Finch, Jennie's father was her very first pitching coach. He invented the Finch Windmill, a conditioning tool which Jennie began using at 10. In high school she pitched six perfect games and 13 no-hitters. In college, she became a University of Arizona All-American first baseman as well as pitcher. When she was in 2001, her Wildcats team won the National Championship as well as in 2002, she received with the Honda Award for the best softballer in the country.
