Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta was bilingual from her age of nine. Her ability was crucial in helping her get her first post as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami in which she worked with the producers of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was hired as a reporter by the CBS station to work as a sports journalist. Then, in 2009 the reporter relocated into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories on drugs and immigration issues from both sides of the Mexico-Texas Border, she served as a news reporter on the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 from 5 pm. She was as a reporter for news on English at 9 pm and then a news anchor for 10pm before returning back to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. Anchor duties for weather or sports were also frequently requested. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasstation, which is where she is more responsible. She was a reporter for events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor herself. She was hired as anchor of the sports program by Despierta America Deportes for their morning show. The same role, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins was born in Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. She has an elder sister. Her family relocated to Miami in 1992 after leaving Mexico. Then, shortly afterward they separated, and in 1995 Fabio Fajardo was remarried. He died of kidney cancer in 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, the younger Collins was able to take a job along with her sister. Antonietta was a senior in high school but she knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. So while assessing if Mount Union was right for her, Antonietta decided to go visit the campus. In the end she was enthralled with the campus. They also offered her a the opportunity to study a major. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University as a major in media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU and WRMU, which she's a part. They formed a strong friendship. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence and whose passion for journalism deeply touched her. In turn, she was determined to exceed his expectations always delivering on time.
